After a year-long hiatus due to a packed schedule of events in 2024, Berlin cricket is making a triumphant return to the Olympic Stadium’s iconic Maifeld. Known for its rich history and cultural significance, the Maifeld has been a cherished venue for the cricketing community in Berlin. The temporary unavailability of the ground left a void, but the return promises renewed enthusiasm and engagement.
The Maifeld has always been more than just a field for Berlin's cricket enthusiasts, it is a symbol of unity, diversity and sportsmanship - despite its chequered past. Hosting numerous local clubs and international tournaments, it has provided a platform for players of all backgrounds to showcase their talent and passion for cricket.
This season marks the debut of two new clubs: SV-Zernsdorf 1959 and SV Berliner Bären. Both clubs bring fresh energy and passion to the city's already bustling cricket scene. We wish them a warm welcome and the best of luck for their upcoming league matches.
Adding to the excitement is the introduction of a new training pitch at the Maifeld. This facility offers improved practice conditions, ensuring players can develop their skills in a more structured and professional environment. The new pitch is expected to become a hub for training sessions, coaching clinics and youth development programmes, further enhancing the city's cricketing infrastructure.
